Drive-cleaning con men arrested in Melksham

Two men have been arrested in Melksham under the Fraud Act, after a series of doorstep scams.

Wiltshire Police and Trading Standards officers have seen an increase in reports of rogue traders approaching elderly home- owners and offering to clean driveways, cash-in-hand, then failing to complete work.

The two, aged 23 and 51, were arrested in Lime Ave-nue on Monday. Both have since been bailed.

Similar behaviour has been reported in Longford Road, Melksham, as well as a spate of incidents in Bradford on Avon.

Wiltshire Police has advised householders to turn down offers by unsolicited callers and always to check for identification.
