BUS drivers at Wilts & Dorset could be set to strike over changes to working conditions.

A ballot by transport union RMT of its 500 members resulted in more than 70 per cent voting in favour of strike action with a larger majority voting for other forms of action.

The dispute is over changes to shifts, sign on and off times and meal breaks which, the RMT claims, will lead to staff working longer hours for less in return.

The union and management have held talks and the RMT executive will be meeting to consider its position.

Wilts & Dorset did not want to comment on the claims made by the RMT. A spokesman for the bus company said: “We are still in negotiations and trying to minimise any disruption to passengers.”
In Wiltshire, Wilts & Dorset operate bus services between Salisbury and Swindon taking in Upavon, Pewsey, Devizes, Marlborough and Warminster.
