HARRY Etheridge was on hand to score a late winner as Swindon Supermarine dragged themselves back from 3-1 down to earn a dramatic 4-3 victory at home to North Leigh last night.
After the prolific Josh Parsons gave Marine the lead after 13 minutes, the visitors put Dave Webb’s side under pressure and made it count as John Mills, Stuart Hole and Jon Else scored three quick goals to take control.
Things got worse for Marine as Danny Allen was sent off for two yellow cards, but they didn’t give up, and were given a glimmer of hope when Craig Curtis grabbed a goal back to make it 3-2.
A minute later they were level thanks to a Ben Whitehead goal, and with time ticking away, Etheridge grabbed a dramatic winner with only two minutes left.
Delighted boss Webb said: “It was an incredible game, and the boys did so well to keep going even after we went 3-1 down to come back and win like that.
“It is a huge three points for us, which could be massive come the end of the season.”
Meanwhile, the draw for the semi-finals of the Hellenic League Floodlit Cup has been made.
Fairford, who shocked Marlow in the last round, have been rewarded with a home tie against Ardley.
In the other semi, Highworth will travel to Brimscombe & Thrupp if they can get past Cheltenham Saracens and Wantage.
Elsewhere, Hellenic Premier outfit Witney’s demise is complete with the club folding due to a lack of funds.
