A choir of 40 from Dauntsey’s Aided Primary School in West Lavington, near Devizes, joined thousands of other young voices at the O2 arena in London for this year’s spectacular Young Voices event.
In the last three years the DAPS choir has grown from five members to 50 and it was with huge excitement that the choir were granted a place with the Young Voices choir for the first time. Rehearsals have taken place since September to prepare the children to sing songs ranging from U2’s Pride, a 1960s medley of songs, a current pop medley to a song from Billy Elliot and a Hans Christian Anderson mash up. Head teacher Rob Lakin said: “The children experienced the magic of singing with theatrical lighting and being filmed professionally for a DVD as well as working with an experienced conductor. “Young Voices has been running for 15 years and the songs, movements, professional adult backing singers and dancers made this an experience never to be forgotten.”
