A Malmesbury band have secured time in a world famous recording studio to make their debut album, thanks to their fans.

The Home Fires have been performing in folk and acoustic clubs since forming in 2010 and have gained a firm following.

They will record their music at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, previously used by artists including Beyoncé Knowles, Tom Jones and Take That, during three days next week.

A total of £3,500 was raised through the creative funding platform, Kickstarter, where fans pledged money to pre-order the album, receive framed artwork and book the band for private gigs.

Guitarist Neil Muttock said: “The support has been absolutely brilliant. Now it’s down to us to produce the album of our lives – now the hard work starts.”
