The family of the Colerne schoolgirl killed in a skiing accident in Austria have set up a charity in her memory.
Ten-year-old Jemima Prees died at the Mayrhofen resort on Sunday February 10 when she came off-piste and collided with a tree. Her parents, Tim, 50, and Karen, 46 have established ‘Jemima’s Gift’ to provide opportunities to children in the arts, sport and education.
A blog has been set up in Jemima’s memory, which describes her as an “exuberant ten-year-old girl with an infectious zest for life. A keen horse rider, performer and reader (despite being dyslexic), she was much loved by everyone who met her, and especially by her family and by her friends and teachers at Calder House School in Wiltshire.”
The charity has yet to be registered, but a Twitter account @JemimasGift has been created to publicise the appeal, and a website at www.jemimasgift.wordpress.com where donations can be made.
Jemima’s funeral will take place tomorrow at 3pm at the Church of St John the Baptist in Colerne.
