WARMINSTER-BASED Charlie Pennington’s preparations for the Bath half marathon appear to be going well on the evidence of his victory in the final Bath Skyline 10km of the winter series.

Success on a challenging multi terrain course above the city is entirely different from pounding its streets but you can’t beat winning for a boost to self-confidence especially as Pennington, who finished third in the Half Ironman World Championships in 2012, knocked off as impressive 3mins 6secs off his December time over the same course.

Runner-up was Dauntsey School student Will Christofi, who made a successful return to the Relish Running series after winning the inaugural series at Dyrham Park in 2011 and Ryan Kestle was third.

“This was final race of the Bath Skyline 10km winter series and we would like to say a big thank you to our hosts at the University of Bath, our brilliant sponsors Running Bath and O2 Creation, as well as all the marshals,” said organiser Tom Room.

Room said the next race will in Bath will be the Roman Challenge 10k multi terrain race on July 14th incorporating a section along the Cotswold Way and up to Kelston Roundhill. For further details see the website at: relishrunningraces.com.
