A Southwock man who has raised more than £15,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of his wife held a ball at The Farmhouse Inn on Saturday evening.

Marian Cane died aged 54 in January 2007, after losing her battle against cancer, and since then her husband Alan has worked hard raising funds for the charity through his ‘Lady in Red’ events.

His latest ball, at the pub in Frome Road, featured the band Gypsy and a performance by Melksham Oak pupil Danielle Corlett-Clarke, 15, who sang Angels, with the audience giving her a standing ovation.

Mr Cane said: “It was a great event and I had some wonderful feedback.”

Winners of an associated raffle will be picked on Sunday at the Farmhouse after a quiz starting at 8pm. See www. farmhousesouthwick. co.uk to find out more.
