DIVISION Two title hopefuls Lamb FC put last week's disappointing A&B Cup defeat against Boomsbury behind them with a crucial 3-2 triumph over Bratton.

In what was one of the games of the day, Richard Stevens' Lamb side kicked off the day 10 points behind inactive leaders Steeple Ashton and one point clear of their guests at the Stallards, but a good afternoon’s work kept they hopes of back-to-back promotions on course.

Lamb fell behind to a Matty Mead 35-yard thunderbolt goal but dragged themselves level before the interval courtesy of a penalty from Ryan Underwood.

Bratton regained the lead in the second half with Shane Newman putting the villagers ahead before a goal on his debut from Sam McQueen restored parity for the Lamb and it was left to hotshot striker Sam Stevens to grab the winner in a contest that the Trowbridge side just deserved to win.

Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves 3 Heytesbury 2

WITH their own Lambrok Road pitch unavailable Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves were more than happy to switch their game to the home of opponents Heytesbury who they had beaten 3-2 at the venue back in November.

And it was case of deja-vu for Matt Rusling’s side as they picked up another 3-2 success that keeps them in the promotion race.

Heytesbury took the lead on two minutes through Kieron Edwards and they had the chance to double their advantage a few minutes later when they were awarded a penalty.

The usually reliable Leigh Kennedy stepped up to take it but his effort was well saved by Wanderers keeper Dave Cardus.

Wanderers won a penalty of their own and Jack Heard who had been brought down made no mistake with his sot kick to drag his team level at one-apiece.

Wanderers got their noses in front on 30 minutes, Will Bayley beating three players before driving home a stunner to give his team a 2-1 half time advantage.

The second half began as the first half had, with Heytesbury in the ascendancy and they were rewarded for their efforts on 60 minutes with Craig Sheppard making it two-each.

With 15 minutes remaining Wanderers netted what proved to be the winner, Ben Rogers scoring a brilliant individual effort to make it 3-2.

Rogers beat a clutch of players before hitting a wonder strike from 20 yards out to seal victory for Rusling’s warriors.
