Devizes police inspector Matt Armstrong is taking on responsibility for policing Melksham as Marlborough will be transferring to Swindon Police.

Currently the Devizes sector for neighbourhood policing comprises Devizes and surrounding villages, Marlborough and Pewsey. Insp Armstrong will take over neighbourhood policing in Melksham, while retaining Devizes and Pewsey, from April.

The Melksham patch includes Seend and Atworth.

Do I understand correctly that the policing of this whole area of Devizes, Melksham and Pewsey is the responsiblity of ONE INSPECTOR? When he is ill or on leave, does this mean a Sergeant is in charge? Surely not.

He's responsible for NEIGHBOURHOOD policing. Not RESPONSE policing.
