Pupils at Five Lanes Primary School re-enacted the Battle of Roundway as part of a history project.
Instructors from Oxenwood education centre visited the school, in Worton, with a range of weapons including muskets, pistols, cannons and pikes.
More than 60 children performed drills and learned to clean and load the cannons with fake gunpowder and using caps they set them off resulting in bangs and smoke.
Laura Hurn, Year 3 class teacher at the school, said the children were learning about the Battle of Roundway as part of local history studying Devizes through time.
She said: “The instructors from Oxenwood helped us to understand how the Civil War unfolded in our area and the battle that took place at Roundway Down.
“The children loved it. All of them were thoroughly engaged.
“They remembered lots of what they were told and gained knowledge.
“We are hoping to go up to Roundway Down either next week or the week after to see the area where the battle happened.”
