Children on trail of their telly heroes

Children's TV characters made of straw will be dotted around Christian Malford on Saturday, March 16, for the village’s second scarecrow trail, raising funds for Acorns Pre-school.
The theme is children’s TV past and present.
One of the organisers, Laura Sidhu, who is on the pre-school committee, said: “Children should recognise a lot of the characters from their favourite TV shows.
“Our first trail last year was a great success, for the pre-school in terms of funds, and for the village as it was a great community event.”
The trail last year raised £500. It involved guessing which nursery rhyme characters the 27 scarecrows on the route represented.
The trail starts at 10am and ends at 5pm at the recreation ground, where there will be refreshments, homemade cakes, a raffle, face-painting and children’s inflatables.
Trail sheets cost £2.50 with a prize for the first correct one drawn.
