A family will run the Bath Half Marathon on Sunday in memory of their mum, Mary Clark, who lived in Sutton Veny for more than 20 years.
Mary’s three children, Andrew, Philippa and Vicky, all former pupils at Kingodwn School in Warminster, will be raising money for Dorothy House Hospice, which provided a lot of support to their mother during her short illness.
They will pay tribute to her career as a nurse at the Royal United Hospital in Bath by running dressed as nurses. She died last October from a brain tumour.
People who sponsor the trio are in with the chance of winning £100 when they donate £2 or more, if they take part in a Guess the Logo quiz.
Mr Clark, 31, who lives in Wood Lane, Chippenham, said: “We decided to do the race because Dorothy House provided a lot of support to mum and all the family.
“The response has been great so far and we are hoping to raise over £4,000. We want to do the race in less than two hours, if we can, but the most important thing is mum and doing it for her.
“She would have loved the nurse’s uniforms. She made us do the Teignmouth Boxing Day dip dressed in nurse’s outfits in 2003, so it’s almost like we’re reviving a tradition.”
Mr Clark said training was going well, although, as his sisters live in Chepstow and Nottingham, they will not run together until race day.
He added: “It will probably be quite emotional on the day, as she would have loved to have been there to show her support and to cheer us on.”
