SWINDON Dolphin continued their preparations for the Bristol & West Division 1 campaign with a 10-9 friendly victory over Bristol Harlequins at Milton Road.
In a game where the lead changed hands throughout, a superb late effort from Ian Brewer saw Dolphin grab the win with just seconds remaining.
The hosts raced into a 3-0 lead at the start with Michal Trzeciak and Matt James both on the mark before Dan Dixon got his first senior goal.
However, Harlequins came back strongly and finished the quarter trailing by one.
Honours were even in the second quarter and two David Quinlivan goals ensured Dolphin held a 5-4 advantage at the halfway mark.
The lead was shortlived as Harlequins scored three unanswered goals to take a 7-5 lead, before home captain Andy Hicks reduced the arrears just before the end of the third quarter.
The game came to life in the final period when goals from Mark Lawlor and Brewer briefly restored Dolphin’s lead, with Harlequins then netting twice to regain a one-goal advantage.
But with two minutes remaining, captain Hicks tied the score and inside the final 30 seconds Brewer bagged the decisive goal.
