Have your say on homes plan near Swindon stadium
A HOME developer is calling on the community to contribute to future plans at the Abbey Stadium.
Persimmon Homes Wessex is holding a public exhibition on March 11 at the Abbey Stadium between 10am and 8pm to give all interested parties the opportunity to drop in and discuss a draft proposal for 184 homes in Salzgitter Drive.
In August 2011, outline planning permission was granted by Swindon Council for the demolition of the existing stadium and construction of a new stadium with youth training facilities, 16,745sq metres of business floor space, a residential care home and 450 homes.
When granting outline planning permission, the associated section 106 agreement recognised the need for housing to enable the new stadium development and allows for up to 200 dwellings to be built and occupied before a contract for the new stadium can start. The proposals represent the first phase of the development with details of the stadium being subject to future consultation.
Steve Roche, managing director of Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “We want to give the public an opportunity to discuss with us the first phase of this residential development, which will feature a range of two, three and four bedroom family homes.
“Abbey Stadium has been identified as an appropriate location for future development, and as a responsible builder we want to be certain that any application we propose has been thoroughly considered by the local community it will serve.”

I just hope that those buying homes in the area realise that speedway bikes make a noise; and no going back after a few months asking for the speedway track to be closed because its noisy.
That is what current residents in the area have been trying to do.
I think its ideal for homes; speedway track; A419, Factories, lack of facilities, poor access roads, etc etc. Just the place for Swindon Council to approve planning permission for.

Charles Church are the snobby part of Persimmons.

Can't see a problem with this.

No mention of traffic management or other infrastructure improvements though - will we never learn?!
PS, there's signs up on Salzgitter about Charles Church homes coming soon - are they the same company as persimmon then?
