THE FIRST dance of a wedding is always memorable but groom Lee Francombe had all the right moves as he surprised his bride.
Amy Francombe, of Old Town, was left speechless as she watched Lee and four of his friends perform the first dance with the help of Diversity’s Ashley Banjo.
In the first episode of the Sky1’s Ashley Banjo’s Secret Street Crew, Diversity front man Ashley heads to Swindon, taking 26-year-old groom Lee under his wing.
Lee wanted to surprise Amy, 23, on their big day by bringing down the house with a showstopping performance alongside his best men and said he felt like a superstar when they performed.
Amy had planned her wedding meticulously but, Lee, a naturally shy guy, had to learn to take centre-stage and lead his ‘crew’, to make sure his special moment didn’t leave his bride blushing for all the wrong reasons.
Amy was stunned when Lee took to the dance floor to reveal his surprise and said she was impressed by his athletic moves.
She said: “It was so good. It was beyond belief, not just that they’d done it, but how good the standard was.
“I took the reins when it came to organising everything – but the one thing Lee planned was the one that made the day. He stole my thunder.”
For three weeks before the wedding, Lee and his four ushers practised a routine choreographed by Ashley.
They had to sneak off so that neither Amy nor her bridesmaids got wind of the plan.
Lee even pretended the Sky1 crew filming him were making a documentary about celebrations so that the crew could capture every minute of the wedding preparations.
Lee, a service adviser at a car dealership, said: “I think she was getting quite suspicious towards the end.
“For all five of us to get together secretly was a nightmare because our girlfriends and wives all talk to each other.
“I was surprised by how well it turned out. Everyone was screaming and cheering. There was such a great reaction that I felt like a superstar.”
Ashley said: “Choreo-graphing for a wedding is once in a lifetime for the bride and groom. It could have been amazing or a disaster.
“Luckily, Lee pulled it off and it was one of our biggest-ever success stories.”
Ashley Banjo’s Secret Street Crew starts on Sky1 and Sky1HD on Sunday at 8pm.
