Devizes Town Council is to ask Wiltshire Council to investigate traffic calming measures for Rotherstone and Avon Terrace.
Coun Paula Winchcombe told a meeting of the town council’s planning committee last week that residents were concerned about the possibility of a cycle route going through Rotherstone.
She said: “They are already concerned at the increase in traffic and speed of traffic.
“When there are roadworks in the town, it’s used as a rat run. Residents find it dangerous to walk along and I think they would like to see a firm commitment to keep traffic calming measures under review.”
Councillor Peter Evans will also refer the traffic calming request to Devizes Community Area Partnership’s traffic group.
