Diversion as main road is resurfaced near Devizes (From This Is Wiltshire)

Wiltshire Council has warned motorists of possible delays as a stretch of the road between Devizes and Rushall closes at night from next Monday.

Resurfacing work will be carried out on the A342 road from the junction with Charlton St Peter to the junction with Pewsey Road/ Church Lane, Rushall from March 18 for nine nights, excluding Saturday and Sunday.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Council said: “We try to minimise the disruption to travellers on busy roads, which is why we are carrying out these works overnight.

“The stretch will be closed from 7pm to 6pm each night. The alternative route will be west along A342 Nursteed Road through Devizes, north along A361 London Road to Beckhampton, east along A4 Bath Road to Marlborough, south along A345 Granham Hill through Pewsey to Upavon, west along A342 Devizes Road to Rushall and vice versa.”
