Sport heroes give out honours in Chippenham

Cult sporting hero Eddie the Eagle gave awards to health groups in the region in a ceremony at Trowbridge Civic Centre last Wednesday.

Olympic skier Eddie the Eagle Edwards was joined by Olympic rower Debbie Flood as guest speakers at the Wiltshire Health Improvement Awards, which reward those trying to inspire well-being in the community.

Winners included Get Wiltshire Walking, Run England and Chippenham Snooker Club.

Wiltshire councillor Keith Humphries, cabinet member for public health and public protection, said: “These awards recognise the brilliant work being undertaken in Wiltshire to improve the health and well-being of all those that live and work in the county.”
