School’s fun show helps to build up confidence

St Nicholas School in Chippenham is putting on a show exploring nature, the human body and space.

All of the Malmesbury Road school’s 70 pupils aged from four to 19 are taking part in performances today.

The pupils, who all have severe, complex or profound and multiple learning disabilities, have been making props and rehearsing dances and lines for three weeks ready to show the 75 capacity crowd.

Teacher Gary Hinkley said: “We have found that the show builds the confidence of pupils and demonstrates what fun it is to be at St Nicholas School.”

  • The Rise Trust children’s centre was given £175 from Sainsbury’s Chippenham to help provide freshly cooked, nutritious meals for their after school club.

The supermarket’s community grant scheme is funded by sales of Bags for Life.

Riser’s after school club is based at the Rise Children’s Centre at The Oaks and is open Monday to Friday from 3pm to 6pm.
