Peter Bray is set for a mammoth charity walk
Former fishmonger Peter Bray is about to put his best foot forward, as he prepares to walk 1,000 miles around the Welsh coastline.
Mr Bray, 75, who lived in Lacock before emigrating to New Zealand nine years ago, has returned to the UK to walk from Chester to Chepstow, raising money for the RNLI.
He said: “I have spent many, many holidays on various parts of the coast, and I just love it.
“I am excited to get going now, I’ve got a couple of weeks here to acclimatise to this cold weather, but as the weeks go by I am sure it will improve.”
A former member of the Avon Valley running club, Mr Bray is used to long distance challenges. He said: “I have done quite a few marathons, but this is a whole new thing for me. I have been active all my life, and I am still pretty damn fit now.
“The path is 870 miles long, but a lot of the B&Bs I’m staying at are off the path, so if you include the extra distance walking to them I’ll have done over 1,000 miles in total.”
