Students at Devizes School recited poems by heart as they took part in a national contest.
They were required to read out one pre-1914 and one post-1914 poem in a way that brought the poem to life. Seven students from Years 10-13 took part.
The winner, Thomas Mullings, 16, recited You are old, Father William by Lewis Carroll and A.a.a. Domine Deus by David Jones. Grace Farrell was second and Rhiannon Owen was third.
Thomas will now go through to the county final on April 12 at the Arc Theatre, Trowbridge.
