Tickets are on sale for the 22nd Chippenham Beer Festival at the Olympiad Sports Hall this April.

More than 2,000 people are expected to visit the festival, organised by the North West Wiltshire branch of CAMRA.

It will be run in three different sessions and will include more than 100 real ales, ciders and perries from across the country.

CAMRA members will also be offered £2 worth of free beer tokens. Gareth MacDonald, chairman of the festival, said: “The whole point of it is to show people what real ale is about.

“You’ve got a lot of people who say ‘I don’t really know what real ale is’ and so they can come along and try a bit.

“We have always found a beer, cider or perry that everyone like and when they leave the festival they think ‘I didn’t know real ale could be so varied’.

“I always look forward to the festival. It’s a great day, everyone drinks responsibly, leaves sensibly and everyone has a really good time. I wouldn’t have been running it for the last 22 years if I didn’t enjoy it.”

The first session takes place on Friday, April 26, from 6pm to 11pm. There are two sessions the day after from 11am to 4pm and 7pm to 11pm.

Tickets on the Friday cost £6 and for the Saturday, sessions are £5. To come to the evening sessions, people must buy a ticket in advance. Tickets are available from the Olympiad reception.
