HE MIGHT be recently retired, but Swindon Harrier Allan Webb set himself a varied programme at the European Masters' Indoor Championships in San Sebastian, Spain.
The 62-year-old ran a personal best of 14:17.10 seconds to finish 15th in the 3000m and he also came ninth in his favoured javelin, throwing 25.32cm, just 20cms below his season's best.
A season’s best of 25.72m followed in the hammer as the veteran finished 13th and he threw another season’s best of 7.59m to come 14th in the shot putt.
The Swindon Harrier launched the heavy hammer a season’s best 9.64m for 14th and he then threw the discus 22.83m for 13th.
Making a foray into running, Webb competed in the Cross-Country Championships and finished the 5km course in 26 minutes, 32 seconds.
Masters athletics is for competitors aged 35 years old and over, running competitions in five-year age groups Last season, Webb set six male vet 60 club records at Harriers.
