Fundraisers collected cash in aid of the restoration of a local waterway with an Antiques Roadshow-style event.
The Wilts & Berks Canal Trust attracted more than 50 people to Melksham Conservative Club. They were invited to have their possessions valued by Gordon Brockman and Richard Edmonds of The Chippen-ham Auction Rooms, for just £1 per item.
The event raised over £170 which the charity will use to fund local workparties on the waterway. It was organised by volunteer Val Melville of the Melksham, Chippenham & Calne branch of the Trust.
The charity’s next big fundraiser will be the annual sponsored walk along the canal from Chippen-ham to Lacock, on Bank Holiday Monday May 6, leaving the Buttercross at 10.30am. Visit www.melkshamwaterway.org.uk for details of how to take part.
