Police were called to a pub in Malmesbury on Saturday after a man was reported to be carrying a knife.
Staff at The King’s Arms, High Street, alerted police at 11.30pm after a man was apparently seen at the bar with a builder’s knife.
Sergeant Martin Alvis, of Malmesbury Police, said: “Staff were alarmed and did the right thing to call us.
“We take any incident involving offensive weapons very seriously.”
A 52-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of an offensive weapon. He was released on police bail until his court appearance at North West Wiltshire Magistrates’ Court, Chippenham, on July 18.
