LAURA Collett is expected to remain under sedation until tomorrow following her fall at Tweseldown Horse Trials yesterday.

The Membury-based rider fell from intermediate ride Tis a Beauty during the cross country section of the Hampshire course.

Following the accident, the 23-year-old Rio 2016 hopeful was taken to hospital and placed in an intensive therapy unit.

A post on her official website this afternoon said: "As a result of the damage to Laura’s lungs it has been decided to give her longer under sedation and it is anticipated waking her tomorrow.

"Further updates will be posted just as soon as there is any more news."

Collett's official Twitter feed said this morning: "Laura had a comfortable night and remains in a stable condition.

"Laura has been woken up briefly and responded well to family.  She is now asleep again.

"Thanks for all your messages, Her family appreciate all the support from friends and well wishers."

Tis a Beauty, a grey seven-year-old mare, was unharmed in the incident.

Collett, who has been retraining steeplechase great Kauto Star in dressage, was at Barbury Horse Trials on Sunday to show off the talents of the double Cheltenham Gold Cup winner.
