Teacher turns to krafty capers

A SCIENCE teacher has hung up her lab coat in favour of an arts and crafts apron as she offers children’s workshops throughout the summer holidays at her new craft shop in Chippenham.
Krafty Monkey was opened in Borough Parade shopping centre in May by Melksham couple Darren and Kerry-Ann Oliver. Downstairs it sells craft kits and supplies, from wood and papier maché to glitter and stickers, but upstairs it hosts workshops for children and adults, and alternative hen parties are on the agenda.
Mrs Oliver, 33, a former science teacher at Sheldon School, said: “As a mother of two young children I had taken for granted my ability to get creative and crafty with the children or create for home décor or gifts. The children like that they take away a couple of decent quality items nice enough to give away as gifts, they’re proud of what they’ve made.”
The holiday workshops are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until the end of August. All 90-minute sessions cost £15.
