SUPERMARINE Sports Club were the big winners on the opening day of the new Wiltshire League Premier Division season as they beat Devizes Town reserves 7-1.
The victory in South Marston puts Marine top of the embryonic table after the first round of matches, on a weekend where 66 goals were scored in the two divisions in only 11 matches.
Southbrook also found themselves amongst the goals as they beat Shrewton United 5-2, while the game between Trowbridge and Marlborough finished with the same scoreline with Trowbridge coming out on top.
Swindon side SKS Blyskawica found the back of the net twice on the opening day but were left disappointed as they went down 3-2 to Wilts Calne Town, while Purton reserves were also on the losing side as they crashed 4-1 at Ludgershall Sports.
Elsewhere in the top division Wroughton managed a 2-0 away victory at FC Chippenham Youth and Vale of Pewsey beat Corsham Town 1-0.
In Division One, Marlborough Town endured a disastrous start to the season as they fell to a 12-1 loss at home to a strong Melksham Town side who went top of the table following the victory.
