Teenage footballer Quinton Barham will return to the pitch for the first time tonight, six months after suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch.
Quinton, 14, of Hyde Road, Trowbridge, will take part in the Under 15s training session with his club, Bradford on Avon Town Youth, at Winsley.
He collapsed on the pitch at Bromham in February after scoring a hat-trick, and spent a month at Bristol Children’s Hospital, undergoing a heart bypass.
Doctors gave the Clarendon Academy pupil the all-clear to return to competitive football last month and he will train up to two sessions a week with the other 17 boys in the squad before the season starts on September 15.
Bradford Town Youth coach Nick Maw said: “It is fabulous news. I think he is still under a three-month check-up and has been told by consultants for things to look out for.
"Between me, the coaches and Quinton, we will manage it. ”
