Team turns out to help brighten up youngsters’ library
STAFF at Zurich have been showing how much they care for the community as they rolled up their sleeves to help transform a school library.
Fourteen members of staff from the insurance company in the town centre visited Mountford Manor School, in Walcot, yesterday.
While the children are on holiday the school is being spruced up and the Zurich staff spent the day painting the library and adding soft furnishings as part of the Zurich Cares Challenge.
The school was contacted by the Zurich Community Trust and was chosen as one of many projects carried out in the community by the staff.
A separate group had already been at the school carrying out work on the playground, putting some designs and games on the Tarmac.
Trainee accountant Marie Kotter said: “We are helping to paint the library because all the walls used to be different colours and we are trying to make it a little bit more vibrant.
“So we are painting everything, making it a lot fresher and are also providing them with some soft furnishings.
“We do a few of these challenges where we try to do things that give back to the community.
“We do all of the fundraising beforehand and it is good to do then something that is putting something back.
“I hope the children will really like it. Another group have been working on the playground, so there has been a lot going on.
“There was a time when the school was almost on the verge of closing so to do this I am sure means a lot to them.”
Trainee actuary Suren Siva said: “It is good for us as a team to be able to get out of the office and do something like this that gives back to the community.
“We have a big team so it is good to spend time together doing tasks that help with team building while also contributing to the community where we work.
“I hope the children will enjoy their new look library and the other changes that have taken place here when they come back to school.”
