Marlborough College hockey lighting plans

Plans to erect flood lights on the hockey pitches at Marlborough College are recommended for approval at tonight’s eastern area planning committee meeting, despite residents’ concerns of noise and light pollution.
The application seeks to replace the eight 16-metre floodlight columns on the western pitch with eight 15-metre lighting columns, to meet light level requirements for certain competitions.
The college also wants to install another eight 15-metre floodlight columns on its second pitch to enable students to use it during winter. Marlborough Town Council raised no objection to the plan, subject to a reduction in light spillage.
The meeting takes place in the Corn Exchange, Devizes, at 6pm.
