Zombies come out to play for Lisa

THE living dead did their best to scare the living daylights out of a Swindon mum at the weekend.
In a field in the Wiltshire countryside, dozens of zombies made their presence felt, as Lisa Matthews watched on in disgust – and was photographed doing so by her mischievous brother-in-law Rod Scarth.
Lisa, 34, from Toothill, was born with a heart condition called transposition of the great arteries and had open heart surgery when she was just three months old.
She has a pacemaker but her heart valves are failing and she will need a heart transplant.
Now family and friends are funraising to send Lisa and her children on holiday to America before the operation.
And to launch the fundraising, Rod gathered 50 willing helpers to become zombies for the day at Quemerford Farm, near Calne.
Lisa also went along on the day with her husband Daniel, who is her full-time carer.
“It’s amazing, I can’t believe people would do that for someone they don’t know,” she said.
She said she has been trying to save for years to take her children Owen, 13, Emily, seven, Oliver, six and Oscar, four, to Florida.
“I want to take the kids for memories, I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future so I want to make as many good memories for them as possible,” she said.
Rod, from Chippenham, said he was delighted with the success of the photoshoot. “We actually did humans being eaten. We had liver and kidneys being pulled out a stomach, it was very authentic. Lisa knows I’m unusual and crazy.”
And Lisa’s mum Susan Trow-bridge, 53, from West Swindon, revealed a secret: “She hates zombies.
“Rod likes that type of stuff, he’s always been an unusual guy. As a family this is what she wanted so we’re trying to think of different ways to fundraise.
“If you looked at Lisa you wouldn’t think there’s anything wrong with her, she doesn’t look ill. We don’t molly-coddle her, we just help her to get on with life, she’s definitely a fighter.”
