Guides from Royal Wootton Bassett and Lyneham had a fantastic time at their summer camp, where they joined Guides from Pewsey and Derbyshire for an week of adventure at Phasels Wood, a well-established Scout camp and activity centre in Hertfordshire.
The party of 48 girls and leaders enjoyed a wide range of outdoor pursuits and crafts and took turns with the daily chores.
The Guides made their own washing up racks and their culinary ventures included preparing 100 pizzas, which were cooked on an open fire.
Weather was generally fine but one downpour looked likely to quell the fire on which leaders were preparing sweet and sour dishes and rice. Meanwhile, the girls sheltering in the marquee were highly impressed by the chefs’ persistence.
