Devizes Canoe Club is hoping to build on its success in the Devizes to Westminster canoe race by attracting even more local talent to take part in next year’s race.
They are inviting anyone interested in taking part to an open meeting next month.
Club secretary Ann Slator said: “Last year we had the biggest club entry in the race, with 33 paddlers taking part. Our paddlers are far more likely than others to finish the event, with only one senior doubles crew in 2012 and 2013 having to retire.”
The club has had notable success in all of the race categories – senior doubles, junior doubles, singles and Endeavour crews.
Ms Slator said: “Many of the club’s crews have been first-timers, and our training programme and support provide people with the best possible chance of success in getting to Westminster in whichever class they decide to take part.”
The club’s open meeting about the race is on Septem-ber 11 at 7.30pm at the Canal Trust Café at the Wharf.
