Boots teams up with hospital to offer pharmacy

GREAT Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is teaming up with Boots UK to provide outpatient pharmacy services from today.
The new pharmacy is located on the ground floor of the hospital and is open to any patient who is given a prescription following an outpatient appointment at the GWH.
The pharmacy has a private consultation room where patients can talk to a pharmacist in confidence and it offers a range of typical Boots UK products, including over the counter medicines, lunchtime meal deals and a range of health and beauty products.
As Boots UK will be providing outpatient pharmacy services, the Trust’s Pharmacy Team will have more time to spend directly supporting patients and staff on the wards.
It is also hoped that outpatients will receive their medicines more quickly, as has been the case in other Trusts who have invested in similar services.
The Trust’s own pharmacy team will continue to provide inpatient services to patients on the wards.
Chief pharmacist Jane Coleborn said: “We are really pleased to be working with Boots UK and I know this new service will make a real difference to our patients.
Longer opening hours and a great range of products mean a much more convenient service. “Our own pharmacy team will also have more time to spend on the wards with patients and be able to spend more time with staff providing specialist pharmaceutical advice and support.”
The new pharmacy will be open from 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 2pm on Saturdays.
The usual exemptions apply to anyone who is exempt from paying prescription fees.
