HELLENIC LEAGUE DIVISION ONE WEST: Braithwaite tells Fairford to relax against the leaders
FAIRFORD boss Paul Braithwaite says pressure lies squarely on the shoulders of table-toppers Tytherington ahead of the teams’ Division One West meeting tomorrow.
Town have started solidly enough this campaign but Tytherington have been the standout team in the division so far, with four wins and one draw on the board.
And Braithwaite feels his team can relax in the knowledge that the opposition will be expected to triumph on their visit to Cinder Lane.
“Tytherington have fielded good teams for quite a few years and they were league champions a few years ago,” he said.
“From what I’ve heard they haven’t lost anyone from last year and have strengthened, similar to ourselves.
“There’s no pressure for us as they are top and are trying to maintain that, while we are trying to catch them.
“They will be looking for something out of it and a bit of revenge and we need to continue what we’ve done.
“We’ve always done well against them and we beat them twice last year.”
Fairford are waiting on Ash Gooch who is still unable to head the ball due to a recent facial injury, while Todd Hathaway has been struggling with a leg problem.
Elsewhere, New College are without Jack Payne due to work commitments ahead of their home game against Lydney.
College boss Rob Hopkins said: “I’m pretty sure they have got a budget judging by some of the players they have got there. Some of the lads there should be playing a league or two up.
“They are always a strong and physical side, but we know what to expect and quite a few of the lads played against them last year.”
