Bright future in store for Marlborough furniture duo

BUSINESS partners Julie Dadson and Neil Bonnick have brought their years of experience in the furniture industry together to open their own shop in Marlborough.
Heart’s Desire in Hughenden Yard officially launched over the bank holiday weekend and the owners believe it offers the people of Marlborough something they can’t get anywhere else in town.
Mr Bonnick said: “Our aim was to offer people something different.
“We offer customers bespoke designs in a fresh, new, colourful furniture and accessories store.”
Mrs Dadson and Mr Bonnick met while working at Warminster furniture company Pinetum and were both made redundant just over two years ago when the company came into financial difficulty.
Mrs Dadson said: “This is our new venture but I have worked in the furniture industry for 11 years and so has Neil.
“Since being made redundant I’ve done a bit of agency work and I’ve known Neil for a long time and we’ve talked about doing this and finally we said yes we would do it.
“It took us a while to find the right location because we wanted to come into Marlborough because it’s so unique. All the shops are very individual and we thought it was the right type of town for our product range.”
During the four-day launch event shoppers could browse the store, take advantage of offers and enjoy nibbles and drinks.
Mrs Dadson said: “The reaction has been very good, people have said it is very good quality furniture.
“The range is unique and it’s made locally in Frome.
“The children’s range is a big part because it’s quite a niche market. There’s not a lot of good quality children’s furniture out there. We’d like to have more on display in the shop but we just haven’t got the space.”
