Chippenham landlords ready to go the Full Monty
1:34pm Thursday 12th September 2013 in Latest News
PUB landlords Ian Ellwood and Ray Cusack will be getting nearly naked for cash in front of their regulars tomorrow.
The pair, both 52, will be stripping off to the Full Monty theme song as part of a three-day charity extravaganza at their pub, The Pack Horse, to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Help for Heroes and Cancer Research UK.
The 9pm spectacle is free and the more donations given, the fewer clothes will be worn.
The big-hearted exhibitionists have run the pub in London Road, Chippenham, since 2011 with their wives Michelle Ellwood, 43, and Liv Cusack, 47, who are sisters.
Mrs Ellwood said: “They didn’t take much persuading. At first it was ‘Oh my God’ then ‘Oh, it’s a really good cause, go on then’.”
Mr Ellwood said: “It won’t be anything technical, just some shaking of hips, wiggling of bums and a bit of ripping clothes off. I’m looking forward to it.”
The two-and-a-half minute slot also features four regulars ranging in age from early thirties to fifties. Organisers admit it may be more saggy than six-pack, but it is all good fun for a good cause.
“There’s a range of shapes and sizes,” said Mrs Elwood.
“My husband has a bit of a beer belly – he’s tanned though. My brother-in-law Ray is ex-RAF but he’s not as toned as he used to be.
“They’ll be going down to their hats. They’re all the centre of the party; they’re going to love the attention.”
She said there would also be two scantily-clad barmaids on the night, to avoid accusations of sexism.
The Full Monty was suggested by one of their customers.
Mr Ellwood said: “It’s something that came from one of those semi-drunken moments. It would cause more of a stir if I didn’t do it. Ray said, ‘OK let’s do it’ so I couldn’t say no, it would be like wimping out.
“Whatever we raise will be more than we had the day before.”
His sister-in-law is a sugaring practitioner and will be waxing three of the men’s backs and bottoms an hour before their performance in the stables room, which people are invited to watch if they desire.
On Saturday there will be a raffle and a high bar competition in the garden from noon, and a roaming magician from 5pm.
The following day, Alex the Hypnotist will perform.
