After another hugely successful Aldbourne Carnival on Saturday organisers are already looking to the 100th celebration in two years time.
On Saturday evening a large and appreciative crowd lined the streets to cheer the procession on through the village.
There was also a raffle, bar, barbecue and Bobby’s Country Diner for visitors to enjoy.
Carnival chairman John Condon said: “It went very well and the weather was generally good. We had a very good standard of floats too and everybody enjoyed themselves.
“Once again another successful event was put on by village people in a lovely village for all to enjoy.
“The whole event was a culmination of a very good two- week period.
“The carnival is long-established and respected. In two years time we’ll be celebrating our 100th carnival, but not our 100th year, and we want to make sure that is something very special.
“The carnival has a great history and it has been kept going by a doggedly determined group of people.
“The level of participation and creation of some wonderful floats shows the love people have for the event.”
In the week leading up to the procession there was an array of activities in the village including a darts evening, treasure hunt, quiz and supper night, bingo and a murder mystery evening.
Mr Condon said: “The whole event offered a good variety of activities to our visitors.
“I’d like to thank the whole carnival family, our sponsors, supporters, the team who put it together, our hosts William and Ann Brown as well as Ann and Mark Standford who hosted the carnival’s murder mystery event.”
The committee is now looking forward to next year’s event which will take place on the first Saturday in September.
Mr Condon added: “I’d be more than happy to welcome people to come forward and join our committee to make another great event next year.”
