BOXING: Blackwell lined up for British title eliminator
NICK Blackwell is being lined up for an elimination contest for the British middleweight title before the end of the year.
'Bang Bang' Blackwell, 22, already a two-time British title challenger, will go toe-to-toe with Ukranian champion Max Bursak, 29, for the WBA inter-continental belt at the Sportpalace Lokomotiv arena in Kharkiv, the Ukraine, next Saturday.
But British Boxing chiefs have also named the Trowbridge man in a final eliminator for the domestic crown against Chris Eubank Jnr, 23, who takes on Bulgarian Alexey Ribchev over eight rounds in Rotherham tonight.
The BBBoC have put the contest out to purse bids, the deadline for which is October 9, with the contest expected to take place before the end of December.
Blackwell has fought twice for the domestic belt previously, losing over five rounds to Martin Murray in June 2011 before taking former Olympian Billy Joe Saunders the distance in defeat in London last year.
Current holder Saunders defends his crown against John Ryder at London's Olympic Park next weekend.
