THE Wyvern Theatre is holding a family fun day in November - and everyone is invited.
The theatre has teamed up with a number of local organisations for the event, which will form part of the UK-wide Family Arts Festival during the October half-term.
The event will take place on November 2 from 10am until 1pm and will include special guest appearances from Daisy the Cow (from this year’s pantomime) and Mr Potato (from Peppa Pig). There will be an opportunity to take part in an illustration workshop led by Horrible Science illustrator Tony De Saulles, as well as colouring competitions, face painting and much, much more.
Theatre director Derek Aldridge said: “Pop in to the Wyvern with the whole family for five minutes, for an hour or for the whole morning.
“We’re passionate about encouraging local families to visit the theatre and introducing them to our comfortable, family-friendly environment.”
The family fun spills out on to the streets, with live music in the band stand in Theatre Square, arranged by Holmes Music and inSwindon. You will be able to hear Elliott James, Joshua Heather, Abby Ella Smith, Emily Jane, Charlie Anne and Rhys Samuel Bury.
Alan Holmes, of Holmes Music, said: "We are delighted to have teamed up with the Wyvern theatre as part of their family fun day.
"It's great to put on a showcase of local musicians and singers in the bandstand and use the facility for what it should be used for. We have a great array of local talent on offer so make sure you come and show your support."
Swindon Dance will also be opening their doors and inviting families to enjoy the world of dance from 9.30am until 1pm. With something for all the family to enjoy and take part in, there is nothing stopping you from stepping in time with your sister, jumping up and down with your dad or rocking with your auntie.
Marie McCluskey, artistic director at Swindon Dance, said: “Swindon Dance is delighted to be working with the Wyvern Theatre on a Family Fun Day.
“Our free events will give families an opportunity to take part together in a fun dance experience.”
Swindon Library will also welcome members of the cast from this year’s pantomime for an exclusive story-time.
