Melksham school gets the go-ahead for new classroom block
New starters at Melksham’s Manor Primary School will be getting a taste of the outdoors, now the school has permission to build two new classrooms.
Permission has been granted for a 21-metre wooden classroom block at the Lowbourne school, which will house its new reception intake.
The 7.6m by 21.4m building will provide two classrooms with a central lobby and washrooms, which will be used for one-on-one teaching or working with smaller groups.
Headteacher Kerry Haines said: “Now it’s been approved we can start building right away, and we hope to be in Christmas.
“It’s like a big shed, and provides an opportunity for an outdoor learning space. We’ve gone from just under 200 to 260 pupils and our classrooms are full, so it’s a very exciting time for the school.”
