The Canal and River Trust is looking for three additional members for its Kennet and Avon Waterway Partnership.
The partnership plays a key part in shaping how the Kennet and Avon Canal, which passes through Wiltshire, is run. It is developing a ten-year strategy to get more people involved in boating, volunteering, education and ecology projects.
Nine people sit on the partnership, drawn from waterways interests such as walking, boating, canoeing and angling. The new members ideally will have expertise in tourism, communications, health and working with young people.
Tamsin Phipps, partnership chairman, said: “Becoming a member is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to help communities take real ownership of their local stretch of canal.”
The roles are voluntary, with expenses paid, and will involve about two to four days a month. Call Mark Stephens, waterway manager, on (01380) 737901.
