Hair-raising charity trial for Devizes hairdressers

A group of Devizes hairdressers completed a 17-mile charity cycle ride without any training beforehand.
The ride, in the New Forest, was the idea of regular cyclist Annette Tyson and she persuaded colleagues at Diffusion, in Sidmouth Street, to join her.
Diffusion owner Charlotte Bridewell, stylists Charlotte King and Heidi Stockhill found the course tough as it had a few hills.
Mrs Tyson, 28, suggested the ride in August and they finished the 17-mile family route in two hours and 15 minutes on September 15. The time included a few rest breaks and a tyre change for Ms Stockhill when her bike had a puncture.
The group raised £550 for Orchid, a charity for male cancers.
Mrs Tyson said: “I am very proud of the girls for doing the bike ride as they didn’t train for it. I think the first three miles killed them but they carried on.
“Every hill they had to stop for a rest. I think they proved a lot of clients wrong by completing it.”
There is a collection tin in Diffusion for donations.
