CALOR LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION: Chitty the hero as Robins clinch a precious away triumph

GOALKEEPING coach Lloyd Chamberlain was delighted with Frome Town stopper Darren Chitty as the Robins won 2-0 at Truro City on Tuesday night, writes Henry Burridge.
Following a goalless first half, Ryan Laville put Frome ahead from the spot after Ben Wood was felled in the area.
Full-back Mark Cooper doubled the lead 11 minutes from time with a stinging left-footed drive, but Frome were indebted to goalkeeper Chitty, who produced a number of superb saves to keep Truro at bay.
“Chitts has been a strong player for us ever since he came to the club,” said Chamberlain.
“He’s had a little dip in form for the last few weeks, so we’ve had a little chat with him and he’s aware that he’s a big game player.
“When it comes down to the nitty-gritty of a big game, he always comes up showing.
“He’s stood up to the task, so we’re really pleased for him.”
With manager Derek Graham and his assistant Mick Byrne unavailable, Chamberlain was put in caretaker charge and watched on as Frome climbed out of the Calor League Premier Division drop zone.
He said: “The lads can’t ask for any more, they put in a great shift and did what they had to do.
“We haven’t always had the luck in front of goal, and to be fair to Truro they threw a lot at us, they just haven’t converted, which has been our problem all season.
“For us to come away with a 2-0 victory and a clean sheet is fantastic for the lads. It certainly makes the trip home a lot easier.”
Last Saturday, Frome lost 2-0 at home to Hungerford Town.
Josh Parsons gave the Berkshire side a sixth-minute lead, turning in the rebound after Chitty had saved his initial shot, and Scott Rees toe-poked home the second on 34 minutes.
Left-sided attacking player Wood has re-joins the Robins from Weymouth.
