TROWBRIDGE-based bobsleigh stars John Jackson and Paula Walker have been handed a new sponsorship deal with Wiltshire butchers Walter Rose & Son.
Great Britain pilots Jackson, 36, and Walker 27, have both been selected for this season’s Winter Olympic qualification events and dropped in to visit their sponsor’s Devizes headquarters last weekend.
The duo are both expected to lead their country at Sochi 2014 next February but Jackson’s hopes rest on his recovery from the ruptured Achilles tendon he sustained during training at the University of Bath.
The men’s GB1 driver went under the knife in July and has been spending his time completing extensive rehab work at the Intensive Rehabilitation Centre at Bisham Abbey.
Walker, who competed at Vancouver 2010, saw last season blighted by a leg injury picked up during a crash at a World Cup event in Altenberg and the women’s number one pilot has also been nursing a knee problem in recent weeks.
The season starts in Calgary, Canada, on November 26.
