VILLAGE Inn goalkeeper Rob Frank had a day to remember as his side saw off DJC Marlborough in the Swindon & District League Premier Division on Saturday.
Frank kept a clean sheet in the 4-0 victory and somehow manager to score straight from a goal-kick as the Inn registered their second win of the season. Steve Winchcombe hit a hat-trick for the visitors.
Elsewhere in the division, Queensfield found form with a 7-1 success against Spectrum. After two defeats in their first three games concerns were raised ahead of the clash with their previously unbeaten guests, but two goals from Aaron Wellend set them on their way to an emphatic result.
Shane Hibbert, Anthony McClusker, Barry Cleminson and Chris Price all found the net for Queensfield, with Hugo Teixeira’s goal scant consolation for Spectrum.
Four goals in the final 25 minutes helped Sportz Central to a 4-0 victory over Fox & Hounds away from home, while previously unbeaten Swiss Chalet Rangers came unstuck at home to Old Town United.
Aaron Selby and Mark Hughes’ efforts were in vain for Rangers in the 3-2 defeat.
In Division One, Redhouse claimed their first win of the campaign thanks to goals from Chris Ody, Rich Stone, Tom Goodey and Paul Peverley in a 4-2 victory at Core Construction.
Swindon Spitfires have now won four out of four following their 3-0 success at Larry’s Plaice.
Liam Kearn, Pete Fletcher and Phil Legace all got in the scoresheet, with Kearn maintaining his personal record of having found the net in each of his side’s games this term.
Dave Lazenby scored for Bassett Bulldogs but his team still lost 2-1 to Old Town Reserves, while Dwaine Dodson and Aaron Wilson got the goals for Motaquip which beat Ramsbury 2-1.
