Devizes lodges are too restricted

DEVIZES Marina is asking Wiltshire Council to vary a condition put on planning approval for new holiday lodges.
The owners of the Marina, in Horton Avenue, were granted planning permission in June to build six holiday lodges by the marina.
A condition of the planning permission states that the lodges shall not be occupied by anyone for more than eight weeks in a year, nor for a period exceeding four weeks at a time with no return within four weeks.
The Marina says this wording does not comply with relevant national guidance and has applied to change the condition to say the lodges will not be used for anything other than as holiday accommodation and not as a main or permanent residence. In addition, the owners will maintain an up-to-date register listing occupiers of the lodges, available for inspection by Wiltshire Council.
The Marina’s planning consultants say this change will provide greater flexibility in the use of the lodges while meeting the objectives of the council for the lodges to be for holiday use only.
