HELLENIC LEAGUE: Hopkins expects his students to teach him a lesson
NEW College boss Rob Hopkins is expecting to learn a lot about his players by the end of their game tomorrow..
The youngsters travel to Easington Sports in Division One West, with boss Hopkins expecting a physical battle from the off against the team immediately above them in the table.
Hopkins knows exactly what to expect from their hosts, and is also sure he will know plenty more about his players by the end of the game.
“From what we gather they are a big physical side with some big tall trees to deal with, and I spoke to a couple of people who have played them already this season and was told they are very direct and play for set pieces,” he said.
“We have to deal with the challenge so it will be interesting, and I think I will learn a lot about where we are by 5pm on Saturday.
“We’ve worked this week on shape and the roles we need to do as a team so we are planning for them, and that’s gone well and the boys have done well.”
College go into the game on the back of a defeat to Letcombe last weekend but Hopkins has been impressed with how well his players have put it out their minds.
“They have been lively and bright in training this week, like they always are, and it’s just a case of making sure they learn the lessons that we need to take on,” he said.
“We can’t get too down because there’s always another game to put it right, and that’s helpful because we have lots of youth and enthusiasm who will go out in the next game and put it right.
“They don’t dwell on things too much and that’s what’s great about this group.”
Elsewhere in the division Fairford travel to Carterton, Purton go to Letcombe and Malmesbury host Clanfield.
